Refund & Cancellation Policy

Updated Jul 11, 2026 · Effective Jul 11, 2026

This Policy states, exhaustively, when a payment made on Yagyanam is refundable, when it is not, and the exact procedure and timeline for each case. It is drafted to be fair, transparent and consistent with the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 and the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020, and it is the only document that governs refunds — no chat message, advertisement or verbal assurance can vary it.

1. Consultations and appointments

  • An appointment with an expert is non-refundable under all circumstances once booked. The fee reserves the expert's professional time and opens the consultation; from that moment the service stands committed, whether or not you proceed to use it.
  • The fee is fixed and disclosed before you pay; there are no meters, extensions or surcharges that could later surprise you.
  • Not attending, abandoning the conversation, disagreeing with the advice received, or a change of mind are not grounds for refund. Astrological interpretation is inherently interpretive, and dissatisfaction with an opinion honestly rendered is not a service defect.

The one situation treated differently

If an expert wholly fails to attend a paid consultation — no response of any kind within the response window stated on their profile — report it from the Support page. Yagyanam may then, at its sole discretion and as a gesture of goodwill rather than an obligation, re-schedule the consultation, credit the fee towards another expert, or reverse the payment. Such goodwill reversals, where extended, are processed within 7 business days. The expert concerned is separately answerable under the Expert Code of Conduct, and their settlement for that booking is withheld.

2. Rituals — refundable only before they begin

A ritual commences when its first ceremonial act is performed — ordinarily the reading of the sankalpa in your name or the lighting of the ceremonial fire, whichever is earlier. Commencement is the bright line of this Policy:

When you cancelWhat returns to youWhy
Before samagri and materials are procured (ordinarily up to 2 days before the ceremony date)100% of the amount paidNothing has been consumed or committed
After procurement, but before the ritual beginsThe amount paid, less the documented cost of samagri and preparations actually incurredPerishable materials and preparations cannot be recovered; the remainder is yours
After the ritual has begunNil — no refundThe materials stand applied and the ceremony stands personally rendered in your name; applied materials are non-refundable
After the ritual is performedNil — no refundThe service is complete
  • The samagri component of every ritual is disclosed as a separate line before you pay, so the deduction in the second row is known to you in advance.
  • Rescheduling requested before commencement is free once, subject to the expert's and the venue's availability.
  • If YOU supplied incorrect sankalpa details and the ceremony proceeded on them, that is not a service defect; correction windows are stated in the booking conversation.

3. Cancellation by the expert or the Platform

  • If the expert cancels, becomes unavailable, or the Platform withdraws a listing before commencement, you receive 100% of the amount paid, without deduction of any kind, within 7 business days — or, at your choice, a free rebooking with an equivalent expert.
  • If a ritual is interrupted by force majeure after commencement, we first attempt completion or rescheduling of the remaining acts; where that fails, the un-rendered portion is refunded proportionately as determined in good faith from the ceremony's stated structure.

4. Prasad — an expert-initiated courtesy, not a Platform service

  • Prasad delivery is not guaranteed after every ritual. It is not a built-in feature of the Platform: where an expert chooses to offer prasad — or muhurat notes, physical reports, or any other physical courtesy — that commitment, with its availability, contents, cost and timing, is the expert's own, stated by the expert in the booking conversation.
  • Because addresses never cross the Platform's privacy wall, the Care Team bridges the delivery: a team member collects your delivery address from you directly, receives the consignment from the expert, arranges the courier, and confirms the courier details with you, ordinarily over WhatsApp. Yagyanam's role ends at this coordination — it is not the deliverer and is not liable for the delivery.
  • Prasad and other consumables are non-returnable once delivered, as goods of a perishable and sacramental character.
  • If a coordinated consignment arrives damaged or does not arrive, raise a request within 48 hours of the courier's recorded delivery (or of the expected window lapsing) with photographs. The Care Team takes it up with the courier and the expert; any make-good — a replacement or a return of delivery-linked amounts — is settled between you and the expert through the grievance process, with the Platform facilitating.

5. Timelines — exact and binding

  • Every refund returns to the original payment method, through the licensed payment aggregator that collected it. We cannot redirect refunds to a different account — this protects you.
  • "Business days" excludes Sundays and gazetted national holidays. Your bank may take a further 2–5 working days to post a credit after we release it; the aggregator's reference number is shared with you so you can trace it.
  • Every decision — approval or refusal — is given to you in writing in your request's timeline, with reasons.

6. How to ask — the procedure

Open a requestSupport → Track or raise a request · category RefundAcknowledgedticket number issued · within 24 hoursReviewedbooking record + anything you choose to shareDecided in writing2–3 business days · reasons givenCredited7 or 14 business days by case · original payment method

The Support page is the single door: its knowledge base answers most questions in minutes, its request desk carries refunds with a named handler, a visible status and an expected-by date, and its care chat brings a human when you ask. Because conversations are sealed to their participants, the Care Team decides refunds on the booking record — dates, payments, dispatch and delivery data — together with whatever you voluntarily share. If the outcome does not satisfy you, escalate under the Grievance Redressal Policy; nothing here limits your rights before the consumer commissions under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.

7. Chargebacks

If you dispute a charge with your bank, we will present this Policy and the booking record to the bank in response. Please raise the matter with us first — our timelines above are almost always faster than a chargeback cycle. Chargebacks raised on knowingly false grounds are refund abuse under Section 11 of the Terms & Conditions and lead to account action and recovery.

8. The experts' side of a refund

Where a refund is issued, the expert's settlement for that booking is withheld or clawed back as the Expert Settlement Policy provides; documented samagri costs on pre-commencement cancellations are reimbursed to the expert against receipts. No refund is ever funded by silently shifting its cost to another seeker.
